 The Scholastic Staff Union of Colleges (ASUU) has promised not to call off the one-month caution strike it started on February 14. ASUU President, Teacher Victor Emmanuel Osodeke, said amid an appearance on Channels TV nowadays, Feb. 28, that the union will not back down on the strike as the Government government has reliably fizzled to keep the guarantees made to the union over the years. The union said it not needs guarantees from the government but action. Osodeke said: "For the past nine a long time or so, they have been giving us guarantees but once the strike is over, they backslide. So, our colleagues are tired of these guarantees which they don’t satisfy. What we need are actions." The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, on Monday, February 28, staged a protest in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and some other parts of the nation over the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
